Values
As a company with more than a century of history, Hanesbrands Inc. has a long heritage and fresh commitment to its values. Hanesbrands believes in four key tenets of corporate social responsibility:
a culture of integrity,
workplace quality,
sustaining the environment, and
support of the fundamental needs of the communities in which we operate.
Hanesbrands has consciously built a culture of integrity over the decades; we have imbedded our Global Business Practices employee code of conduct deep within the culture of our organization since the 1990s.
At Hanesbrands, we ensure that our people, and those who work for our independent contractors, work in quality facilities. We work to ensure that our people have clean, safe workplaces that operate consistently with internationally recognized labor standards. We continuously drive and emphasize adherence to our Global Standards for Suppliers (GSS) and implement vigorous auditing and monitoring programs.
Hanebrands thrives through positive, sustainable environmental practices. We vow to reduce the amount of natural resources and raw material used in both products and packaging. We will continue development of innovative solutions for our energy and water use, for waste/hazardous waste generation, for sound recycling programs, and for our transportation needs. For example, Hanesbrands is leading the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA) initiative on restricted substance lists; the AAFA honored us with a 2005 Excellence in Social Responsibility (ESR) award for the Preservation of the Environment. We systematically track and measure key environmental metrics so that continuous improvement is driven across the organization. We live and work in the communities we affect, and we behave accordingly.
Hanesbrands supports the communities in which we live and work. Our communities are the fiber of our existence. Our corporate giving and community development efforts focus on serving the fundamental needs of the people and programs that need us most.
